Less Paulish Trio is a mostly instrumental group, playing improvised music in many styles.
Members are: Roger Ferguson (National Flatpick Champion, guitar/mandolin/fiddle), Trevor Hanson (7-string guitars), and Mick Nicholson (bass). All three are well known Northwest performers, familiar throughout the area at many venues and with diverse ensembles.
Our material ranges widely — swing and latin standards, bluegrass and other Americana/old-timey tunes, snatches from the Django Reinhardt manouche tradition, classics from the Great American Songbook, and original compositions. Some might categorize our music as acoustic string jazz. Expect plenty of musical fire and humor.

In addition to the trio format, we often play as a duo, when one of us must be elsewhere. Each combination (Roger/Trevor, Trevor/Mick, Roger/Mick) has a different feel and range of material.
This ensemble draws on the fantastic arrangements of the original Less Paulish Trio, which featured the immortal Ray Wood playing with Roger and Mick. Ray died in 2024, alas; but we’re keeping the torch lit.
We appear at random area venues every month or so. For specific dates, audio/video clips, and other information, visit us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/LessPaulishTrio
